Combining S-S And F-F Relationships: An example

So we found that in the case of start to start or finish to finish relationship we're controlling the successor or the predecessor controls the successor on one side, either start controlling the start of the successor or the finish of the predecessor controls the finish of the successor. What if we want both? Then we have to use combination relationship, start to start plus finish to finish relationship. And by the way, this is not possible using Microsoft Project. Primavera allows you to have multiple relationships for the same two activities, same two pair, but Microsoft one.

In this case, we have an example of three activities that make this project A, B, C as usual. A is 10 days, B is 3 days, C is 5 days and they have these relationship with A and B. It's start to start with two days lag, finish to finish with no lag. Between B and C, it's start to start with three days lag and finish to finish with no lag. Like I said, those relationships it doesn't have to be the start to start on the top and finish to finish on the bottom, it's whatever you like, it's only for aesthetic reasons.
